In response to the continuing deterioration of the quality of the raw sur face water, the original single stage water treatment system was replaced with a new double stage system.

This involved a complete structural renovation of the existing buildings in the grounds, constructing a new coarse pre-treatment building, renovating the roads, including the utility networks beneath them, and completely replacing the water treatment equipment. The raw water pumping station is also equipped with 3 new pumps with a frequency speed control converter for variable power control to the dry sump. The sedimentation tank is also fitted with a lamellar structure. The treated water then flows into a storage tank, where it is then pumped out for consumption using a pair of new distribution pumps.

As part of the revitalisation, the chemical management system was renovated, including the dissolving tanks and feed equipment. The health safety of the filtered water is ensured by a UV unit and the addition of chlorine gas. The water treatment plant provides drinking water for 9,000 PE.
