Scope of servicesConstruction
24 hours a day / 7 days a week – slip form construction of a new silo
The new flour storage facility significantly expanded the capacity of the Kyjov plant. It was erected on a floor plan of approx. 13 m by 20 m and reaches the height of a seven-storey building. There are 15 storage silos concealed inside, each with a capacity of 180 m3/pc.
Each silo is a three-storey RC structure with an internal clear height of 5.26 m on the ground floor (technological equipment under the silo), 14.49 m on the 1st floor (silo) and 5.28 m on the 2nd floor, which houses the technological equipment above the silo.
Project feature
Thanks to the use of self-climbing formwork, the concrete works were performed as a continuous, uninterrupted process, which placed heavy demands on the coordination of individual activities and especially on maintaining the dimensional accuracy of the entire structure. Even so, it was possible to pour approximately 3 m of new structure per day.
To make sure the flour does not stick to silo walls, a special “egg shell concrete finish” was applied over the entire internal surface of all the 15 silos.
The building is insulated and cladded with a steel façade system made of trapezoidal sheets. The roofing is made of glue-laminated timber beams and the Kingspan roof panel system.
