Scope of servicesConstruction
With the new Cardiocenter, an integrated complex was created for all fields and activities of the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM). In the new areas, IKEM gained an in-patient department and further operation rooms and laboratories. The number of beds in the in-patient block, which is located in a seven storey building, rose to 330 beds. The post-operation department is connected to the Cardiocenter’s operation rooms building by a suspended roofed corridor. The treatment block, together with the operation rooms, is housed in the five storey building in which there are located three twin and one single operation room with the necessary peripherals.
In the seven storey building we can find the block for acute and intervention cardiology, further enhanced by a central drugstore, laboratories and a central medical science library. The load-bearing construction of all buildings is composed of a monolithic steel-concrete skeleton whose brick perimeter wall is insulated and equipped with suspended ceramic tiling. In the scope of the project a connection has been built to the already operational section of the new building, the respective service lines, the economic peripherals, the technological systems and communications.
